Is Your Job Putting You at Risk?
Rising Incidents of Workplace Abuse in Ireland
Abuse and attacks on UK shop workers have surged to 1,300 incidents a day – a worrying trend reported by the BBC. This figure marks a 50% increase from the previous year, up from 870 incidents daily. Even more concerning is that approximately 8,800 of these incidents over the past year resulted in injury.
This begs the question: Are you safe at work, and are your employers doing everything they can to protect you, especially when you’re working alone?
Ensuring Safety for Lone Workers in 2024
Using a lone worker device has been the optimal solution for monitoring workers facing increased or critical hazards for decades. These devices reliably protect lone workers from risks before it’s too late.
Seconds Matter in Emergencies
In the event of an assault, the first few minutes can be decisive for preventing consequential damage or ensuring survival. Workers who are alone are particularly vulnerable to life-threatening dangers, depending on their tasks.
A lone worker alarm provides reliable protection for your employees, fulfilling your duty of care as an employer.
Rapid Response Saves Lives
One careless step, one wrong move, and it happens! For employees working out of earshot and sight of colleagues, additional protection during accidents or medical emergencies is crucial.
If an employee feels threatened or is attacked, or if sudden health problems arise, the emergency signal can be triggered by pressing the SOS button. In the event of an accident or fall, a lone worker device detects unusual positions or inertia through special sensors and immediately sends out a call for help, transmitting the exact location simultaneously.
To prevent further endangerment, emergency calls are made silently in both situations. Depending on preset preferences, the call signal can be sent via phone call, SMS, email, and/or through a certified service centre.
In cases of assault or robbery, employees can initiate a discreet alarm by pressing a button or shaking their arm if the device is a watch. The emergency call is made silently by the monitoring team, who will assess the situation, determine the threat level, and escalate the response to the appropriate emergency services and management team.
Don’t Risk Your Safety
Given the alarming rise in workplace abuse and attacks, it’s crucial not to take risks with your safety or that of your staff. The statistics don’t lie.
